Our professional Physiotherapist’s role is to work in partnership with patients to enable them to achieve and maintain optimal function and independence.
Physiotherapists will carry out detailed patient/client assessments in order to define the patient’s/client’s expectations for this particular intervention. This will be done through:
• Examination of the musculoskeletal system to get a baseline of a person’s current status
• Identify how patient’s/client’s condition affects individuals function(mobility, posture, etc)
• Analysis of posture and movement
• The patient’s/client’s current self management and coping strategies
• Interview and discussion of the patient’s/client’s assessment findings in order to define meaningful goals(goal orientated plan)
• The opportunity that is given for patient/client to ask questions about his/her condition and advice regarding management and prevention in the future
Alleviating Rheumatism
Rheumatism belongs to the category of ‘lifestyle disease,” upside of this being that physical activity and exercise has been scientifically proven to have a positive effect by increasing strength and ability to complete daily activities, improving quality of life by controlled exposure to sunshine as being incredibly beneficial. We have developed comprehensive programs that combine medical, social and emotional support for the patient. Professional physiotherapists will establish a pain management scheme with the use of training elements such as movement and muscle strengthening exercises. The patient and patient’s family will also be educated about the nature of the disease and how to maintain a productive and active life.
Neurological conditions
Physiotherapy intervention may include maintenance of an established condition or continuity of an existing physiotherapy treatment plan. Physiotherapy can address walking difficulties, weakness, spasticity, balance problems and altered movement patterns by using mobilizing techniques, facilitation techniques, and hydrotherapy.
Orthopaedic and spine problems
Physiotherapy intervention may include pain management with the use of ice, heat, electrotherapy and hydrotherapy, range of movement and muscle strengthening exercises, manual therapy and posture re-education – ergonomics.
The physiotherapist may provide education on the patient’s/client condition and guides them on self-management long term. Assessment, goal setting, treatment planning and implementation of treatment are highly individualized.
